About the Author
The passion in human beings to tell stories is not so rare, but the opportunity to do so is a real gift. Author Rick Sapp grew up on Amelia Island, Florida in a family that mowed lawns, raked leaves and went to church-twice-on weekends. So he fondly recalls the afternoon in 1979 when, standing in the parking lot of the Federal Building in Minneapolis, he purchased his first bow and fist full of mismatched arrows. At the tender age of 33, he began to learn about hunting and fishing. Of course, what propelled him into these outdoor hobbies was his earlier, inane remark about how hunting had killed off the passenger pigeon and well, he just hopes the biologists and wildlife management specialists of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Region 3 have forgiven and forgotten. Since that rugged beginning, he has bowhunted and fished his way across the U.S. and Canada, literally from the Atlantic to the Pacific, chasing whitetails, mule deer, pronghorns, caribou, black bears, and javelina. Occasionally, he has been good at his craft and sometimes he has been lucky. Always, however, he has felt fortunate and blessed by his experience.
